Who are we?
We are Seb and Soph, former professional yacht crew turned full-time world cruisers. We’re here to share our knowledge and passion for sailing and help you start your own sailing adventure. We’re commited to helping you every step of the way. We will make your trip safe, enjoyable and unforgettable. Not only will you gain valuable insights, but you’ll also save money by avoiding common mistakes and save time that you’ll be happier to spend snorkelling, hiking, spearfishing or just relaxing at anchor !
Four years ago, after many years of working in the sailing industry, we bought our own boat, Mama Beluga, a Beneteau 473 and left France with a 2 month old baby. Our family is growing along the way; we have now 3 kids and we arrived in French Polynesia 6 months ago.
Sebastien
Sebastien is French and Swedish, he speaks French, English and Swedish.
He has worked on boats for twenty years; as a sailing instructor in France, as a yachtmaster instructor in England, as a first mate on sailing superyachts and as a captain on private sailing yachts. He has sailed over 130,000NM.
Seb has extensive all around knowledge about sailing and navigation systems, but also mechanical repairs of engines, plumbing, hydraulic or electrical issues.
He will be your coach and your primary contact for all your questions about boat choice and preparation, navigation planning and safety on board.
Sophie
Sophie is French and American, she speaks English, French and Spanish. She’s been a chef and a mate on private boats for 6 years. She is also a trained sailing instructor who has sailed 60,000NM. Before her sailing career, she worked in the restaurant industry in New York and the Caribbean; she has a degree in restaurant and bar management.
She will be in charge of the logistics and organisation. She’ll help you with bookings, orders, agents and talking with the Spanish world.
How can we help?
We will follow your sailing project step by step down to the smallest details and provide our expertise at every stage.
If you don’t have a boat yet, we’ll help you choose your boat and accompany you through the buying process. Together, we will go through the ads of the boats you’re looking at, this will help prevent costly mistakes or weeks of maintenance down the line.
Then we will help you get the boat ready in an efficient and safe way. This includes going through hardware, tools, spares, safety equipment, victualling, etc. We’ll keep track of your progression on the different subjects
Your travel plans will be reviewed, and itineraries, routes, and cruising grounds will be recommended based on your budget, the season, and the weather forecast.
En route, you will be able to contact us as we can help with any maintenance questions you may have, routing or weather checks.
We can look up information on your next port of entry and you can lean on us to help with ordering new parts, organizing local agents. This is more of a conciergerie service and has an additional cost.
At what price ?
Coaching
Our coaching services are available at 200€ per month, with an annual membership option for 1,900€.
Conciergerie
Additional conciergerie service is available at a rate of 50€ per hour. This could be the ordering of parts, booking of marinas etc.
Réparation
Seb can also travel to visit or fix a boat for a daily fee of 300€ + travel expenses.
How our consulting service works :
We will support you in your navigation project step by step,
down to the finest details, providing our expertise at every stage.
First we will send you a questionnaire to fill out. This will help us understand what your goals are, what kind of boat and route you are interested in, what your biggest concerns may be and how we can truly help.
We will set up a first time video call via WhatsApp to get to know each other and start answering the questions you may have.
We will then follow your project every step of the way and debrief during our weekly phone call. In the meantime, we will stay available by text message or email.
